A fantastic antique Georgian solid 18k and 9k gold purple stones mourning ring. What a super looking 18th century-circa 1780-George III mourning ring this is! The solid 9k gold oval face has been decorated with a weeping willow hanging over a memorial urn, the original domed crystal cover has a fabulous halo of glowing foiled back purple (most likely paste) stones which have a lovely sugar loaf cabochon cut, the ring with a very pretty Celtic design solid 18k yellow gold band with twisting oval circles with open centers. The ring is unmarked, the band tests for 18k gold and the head for 9k gold. The ring is approximately a size 5 1/2. The ring measures about 14mm x 12mm across the face. The stones are about +/-1mm. The crystal measures about 11mm x 9mm. The ring rises about 4mm above the finger and weighs approximately 3.7 grams. The ring has 250 years of all over wear but is perfectly wearable and looks great on the finger. Three stones are missing, the others have wear, the painting is worn. The band has a repair near where it meets the head. The original crystal is in good condition. Please check all the pictures, they form part of the description.
