This is a rare autographed November 1990 “Stagebill” playbill (with an original ticket stub) from the Pre-Broadway engagement of “PENN and TELLER: THE REFRIGERATOR TOUR” at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. (The production would open April 3rd, 1991 at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre in New York City and run for 103 performances.) ….. The act starred PENN JILLETTE and RAYMOND TELLER (both signed an inside page) ….. Background: PENN and TELLER are American magicians, entertainers, and scientific skeptics who have performed together since the late 1970’s. They are noted for their ongoing act that combines elements of comedy with magic. The duo has been featured in numerous stage and television shows and currently perform in Las Vegas, having the distinction of being the longest running headliners to play at the same hotel in Las Vegas history. Penn Jillette serves as the act’s orator and raconteur, while Teller generally does not speak while performing, instead communicating through mime and nonverbals. Besides magic, the pair has become associated with the advocacy of scientific skepticism, particularly through their television show, “Penn & Teller: Bulls#it!” ….. CREDITS: Written by PENN and TELLER ; Sets designed by JOHN LEE BEATTY; Produced by RICHARD FRANKEL, THOMAS VIERTEL and STEVEN BARUCH ….. DETAILS: The 44 page playbill measures 5 5/8″ X 9″ inches and includes beautiful cover graphics, full production credits, list of acts, a Penn and Teller Time Line and bios of each member of the creative team as well as three photos of the stars. An inside page was signed by both Penn and Teller (second scanned image) and will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Includes a ticket stub from the November 3rd, 1990 evening performance ….. CONDITION: With the exception of light edge wear, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
