Please note: Images are for illustration purposes only Vertical detachable swan neck towbar The majority of Tow-Trust’s detachable swan neck towbars are ‘vertical’ (VK) systems making them fully hidden behind the bumper once the detachable neck is removed. All our VK towbars incorporate a fold away electrical plate enabling the towbar electrics to fold behind the bumper when not in use. Key features of the vertical detachable system are; Suitable for vehicles with reversing sensors In most instances this system is completely invisible once the neck is removed and therefore preserves the aesthetic appearance of the vehicle Alko compatible Allows free access to the rear of the vehicle Lockable with a set of two keys provided Storage bag provided for safe keeping once neck is removed Tow-Trust offer one of the largest ranges of ‘swan neck’ detachable towbars. This system offers a removable solution for customers looking to combine a towing facility with maintaining the appearance of their vehicle. The majority of our ‘swan neck’ detachable range are ‘vertical’ (VK) systems which in most cases are invisible kits that are fully hidden behind the bumper once the detachable neck is removed. Most VK detachable towbars come complete with a single fold away electrical socket plate which enables the towbar electrics to be moved up behind the bumper when not in use. For security purposes, all detachable necks are lockable and come with a set of keys to ensure peace of mind when the vehicle is left with the neck in place. A storage bag is also supplied once the neck is removed for safe keeping. It is our aim to manufacture all detachables in the VK format due to their neat appearance when the neck is not attached. Unfortunately due to the design of some vehicles, it is not possible for a VK to be designed and fitted. This is usually due to insufficient space behind the bumper for the housing of the neck and the socket plate to be located. In this rare instance we still try to offer a detachable option by designing a ‘horizontal’ (HK) system. Whilst not being completely invisible this still offers a removable, lockable neck solution that enables customers all the benefits of a detachable system apart from it not being invisible. All is explained in detail on our towing guide pages, but here’s the short of it… Towbar Types Fixed flange towbars are the most versatile, at the cost of being bulky and are likely to trigger reversing sensors. Fixed swan necks lose the versatility of the flange type but gain a sleeker fitment, are less likely to trigger sensors and look better to suit. Detachable towbars are similar to swan necks but can be removed fully when not in use maintaining your vehicles appearance. Guarantees proper operation of reversing sensors. Electrics 7 Pin (12N) provides your basic lights except for reverse and is ideal for bike carriers, trailers and caravans where power feeds are not required. 12S and 13 Pin provide an ignition switched and permanent power feed in addition to reverse and is primarily used for caravans. Dedicated or VSK electrics are the recommended choice especially for DIY fittings as they include full instructions and provide a more professional fitment. Universal electrics are also an option but take more care to fit properly.
