It was licensed from the Masonite Corporation, and indeed, requires Masonite as one of the materials! Of course, you can use Masonite, but you can also use other products just as well. The pattern is for a really charming cottage, and is REALLY well designed – it is an architectural design with an architectural rendering of what the finished piece looks like. It’s a wonderful pattern, that would be SO much fun to complete! Since is its architectural in design, there is no cutting and tracing of pattern pieces required. The pattern dates to the middle of the last century, or possibly earlier. The magazine, American Home, was in publication from the 1920’s until 1977. Masonite is still in business today. The house is fairly large – one detail shows the side of the base at 30″. In the early years, American Home Magazine sold home patterns for full size houses – ready to make! They sold patterns for quilts, painting and much more. I have a catalog of their patterns that they sold for sale in another listing. I checked the catalog to see if this pattern was in there, and it wasn’t.
